Have you ever had buyer’s remorse? It’s not a fun thing to deal with so let me lay out all of the information to make a great gaming purchase.

The Blueprints

It’s obvious that Sony’s favorite color is black and now Microsoft is joining them on that choice. They both have also stuck with a boxy style for their new look. Xbox One is compared to the retro VCR player that everyone loved so much but with an added HDMI import to watch Live TV on. The PlayStation 4 design brought back a nostalgic PS2 feeling because they looked similar in many ways. Based on size the PS4 is smaller and slightly thinner because of the minor slant of the counsel.

Almighty Dollar

The Xbox One will cost $499 with an included Kinect camera, where as the PS4 will cost $399 and the PS4 camera, the Eye, will be sold separately for $59. So overall the PS4 is cheaper than the Xbox One even with the camera and console combined.

The Insides

Many people have been talking about the outside but isn’t it the inside that counts the most? The guts of both of these consoles are much alike. The PS4 and Xbox One both operate on an eight-core processor that are coincidently made by the same chipmaker, which is a big change-up for both companies.

So Much RAM

The PS4 is going to have 8GB of RAM and Microsoft recently revealed that the Xbox One will also have this, but because of all the power that is required to run the product already, this might not live up to that. The only down side is that you’re not getting all that you hear       because some of the RAM goes to running the operating system.

Controller

The DualShock 4 is larger than the previous ones because of the new touchpad. Sony has also added a central divot on the two analog sticks, which makes it easier to control. Microsoft has also made some slight changes to their controller. They’ve changed the D-Pad and added more rumble to it as well.

The Kinect vs. The Eye

Microsoft created a better Kinect that can now track up to 6 outlines of the body and can analyze 2GB of data per second. It can now track your heartbeat and more in depth movements of the body. Sony’s new camera is constructed similar to the Xbox One. The Eye is also compatible with the PS4 more motion controllers.

Games Galore

Microsoft will launch games such as Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Forza Motorsport 5, Killer Instinct, Loco Cycle and Kinect Sports Rivals. Sony will be launching Black Flag from Ubisoft, Naughty Dog, and possibly Uncharted 4. So no matter which one you pick, you’re going to have a bunch of fun games to look forward to playing.

Indie Games

One thing that stands out about Sony is the fact that they support independent game developers, such as Supergiant Games, Red Barrel Studios, and Young Horses. They are showing that they back the thought of ‘out of the box’ games and are open to new types of gaming. This might not stick that long because it is expensive to back indie developers over time.

So now that you know all that there is to know about these two gaming systems, which one will you choose? Take your time because you’ll have until Nov. 15 to purchase the PS4, and until Nov. 22 to pick up an Xbox One. So stop. Think through. And continue gaming.
