Art makes an impact in the world. Multiple studies have been done to prove how art improves student’s performance at school. Many students must take art classes in elementary school and can choose to advance on. General Studies freshman Kylee Kappers has continued into high school art classes in Michael Schroeder’s Intro to Art.
“She shows potential with what she’s drawn so far and when she’s in class working. She’s a model student working quietly and independently to get her daily objectives done,” Schroeder said.
Cartoons interest Kappers, 15. She prefers to draw with colored and lead pencils. She’s been drawing as long as she can remember, since she was little, and is inspired by older cartoon characters such as Bugs Bunny.
“She seems to have a real, genuine interest in making the art, and she was creative too. One of the only ones when they did a two-point perspective city, she did hers underwater. Most people didn’t even try to think of that,” Schroeder said.
Being a freshman, there’s no pressure to think of what she wants to do in the future, but there’s a possibility she will continue on in the arts.
