Juniors all across the nation sit down to take the ACT every spring. The ACT is a college readiness test that allows students to track how ready they are for college.
On March 1, juniors reported to school to take the ACT. Students still managed to make it to school on time and do well, even with a big snowstorm.
For many students this was their first time taking the ACT, including Jayden Foster, Kristen Holden, and Jessica Motes. They all said they did well on the test, regardless of whether or not they prepared.
“I feel like I did as well as I could have with not going to any of the classes or taking many of the practice tests,” said Foster
Foster said that he feels content with his score and will not be taking the ACT again.
Holden attended an ACT prep boot camp in October and took one practice test before taking the ACT.
“I am very happy with my score, I scored way better than I thought I would,” said Holden.
“At the time of taking the test, I felt like it could’ve gone either way honestly. It is so hard to tell because you don’t know exactly what they expect.”
She does not feel the need to retake the test after seeing her score. “I do not like taking five-hour long tests at all and my score was where I wanted it to be,” said Holden.
Motes exceeded her expectation when she received her score. Motes paid close attention in class when the ACT prep teachers came to class and bought an ACT book.
“I’m happy with my score, especially since it was my first time taking it,” said Motes.
Motes paid close attention in class when the ACT prep teachers came to class and bought an ACT book.
She plans on taking the test again and this time wants to put more effort into preparing for the test.
“I didn’t apply myself in preparation 100 percent the first time I took it, so I’m sure if I retake it I could score higher…” said Motes.
