Fortnite is a third person co-op sandbox survival game developed by Epic Games and People Can Fly. Designed by Darren Sugg, it was created in the Unreal Engine.
There are two game modes within Fortnite, Save the World, and the more popular Battle Royale. Multiplayer is very fun when playing with your mates, but playing in a random squad match is another story. In most cases, you can have teammates who don’t drop with the team, instead landing at Tilted Towers (a location in the game) to their likely death. You also have those teammates who like to take your golden weapons if you drop it to take a potion. You start in the Battle Bus, a blue bus mashed up with a hot air balloon, suspending you very high in the air. You arrive at the island still suspended in the Battle Bus. From the busy city of Tilted Towers to the seclusion of Lonely Lodge, you have many areas to choose from.
After landing, there are a couple things you can do. You should find a weapon as fast as possible. Fortnite has a lot of weapons to choose from. Running through buildings and searching chests, you can find a lot of weapons varying from shotguns, handguns, Magnum submachine guns, machine guns, rifles, a crossbow, smokes, explosives and impulse grenades, all items that you can use to blow your unsuspecting victim off a mountain. You also may find healing items such as bandages, medical kits, and potions that include small and large potions, Slurp Juice, and the almighty Chug Jug that if you’re drinking during a battle … you’re probably going to die.
After you gather your weapons, you can gather resources by using your axe to demolish buildings, vehicles, rocks, trees, or take resources off your dead enemies. With the resources you’ve collected, you can build structures, barricades or towers that people like to shoot you off of. After a couple of minutes of landing the storm comes in, it’s a contracting circle, limiting the player area every few minutes. At first, the storm doesn’t seem dangerous, only taking one Health Point (hp) away each second, but later on, if you’re unfortunate enough to be on the fast moving side, good luck to you.
Getting a win in this game compared to PUBG is very easy. All you have to do is wait a few minutes and the people at Tilted Towers will have finished each other off. The game starts with 100 players at max and can lower to 50 before the first circle closes in.
If being a team player isn’t your thing, avoid squads and duos. Instead play solos. You won’t need to worry about your teammates and multiple targets fighting you, unless you’re just unlucky enough to be caught in between a battle.
Overall the game is very fun to play, with or without friends. It’s being updated all the time, with new weapons and attires. After all of this, I give this game a five out of five stars.
