Born in 1934 in London, Valerie Jane Morris-Goodall, or better known as Jane Goodall, is a British ecologist best known for her 60-year-long studies and research on chimpanzees in an effort to protect such apes from extinction.
At the age of just 26, Goodall traveled from her home to the forests of Tanzania in an effort to observe and gain insight on the species. Her groundbreaking work has led to the revolutionary discovery of the species true diet, toolmaking abilities, and social complexity amongst each other. In addition, her findings also shifted species conservation to also include the needs of both individuals and the environment combined, even going as far as founding the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 in order to support all the research made in Gombe and to also strengthen the protection of chimpanzees in their habitats.
Today she frequently advocates for the protection of wildlife, sharing her findings and experience with people around the world.
