Almost two years ago, COVID-19 spread around the world causing lockdowns, political upheaval, and a world filled with people with no direction or hope.
In the summer of 2021, cases finally dropped at an encouraging rate and lockdowns ended. The freeing experience of finally being allowed to continue life the way we all know how to was practically euphoric. Music festivals took place, sports games allowed crowds to watch, and stores allowed in-person shopping again. The desolate streets and beaches were full again, and everything seemed to be better.
Now the Omicron variant has taken the world by storm, and it seems that we are back to square one. Numerous countries have locked down their borders and even gone so far as to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine in an attempt to ward off this virus once and for all.
With all this uncertainty and constant back and forth, many are losing interest in the world as we know it. People are searching for a purpose, and they see their lives devoid of one.
That is simply not true.
According to the World Health Organization, more than 10 billion COVID-19 vaccinations have been globally administered. Many professionals like the Moderna CEO have claimed that these may be the final stages of the pandemic, and scientists have officially begun working on a universal vaccine for coronavirus.
With the news pumping out as many negative stories as possible about coronavirus, just as much great news about the pandemic has been publicized as grandly.
It is understandable to be scared and to feel an overall lack of motivation for anything during these times, but there is no need to give up.
Things may not go completely back to how they used to be, but with all the progress we have made due to these circumstances scientifically, socially, and mentally as a species, the world being different is a positive thing rather than a negative.
There is so much more to be discovered and achieved in our personal lives as well as society. As stated in the Disney movie Meet The Robinsons, to “keep moving forward” is the best way for all of us.
