Another superhero team has come to together, not to save the world but to save the galaxy!
Meet the Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel’s space Avengers.
This unusual team is made up of outlaws or exiles of their own worlds, but they must band together to stop the evil Ronan the Accuser from taking an infin- ity gem and wiping out the known universe.
The movie Guardians of the Galaxy came out in August and was considered the best movie of the summer! If you missed it, it’s still worth seeing.
The main character Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt, was captured at a young age by alien pirates and taken from Earth after the death of his mother. Twenty years later, Quill has become an intergalactic thief known as Starlord. He is stealing the infinity gem to gain the bounty on it when he enounters Gamora, an orphan who was raised by the mysterious Thanos as a personal assassin. Gamora was also sent to recover the gem.
Meanwhile, Rocket (a cybernetically-engineered racoon) and Groot (a tree- like creature that demonstrates a thoughtful side with limited communication abilities) are working as a bounty hunter team with plans to collect the price on Starlord’s head.
All these characters are brought together early in the film, when they all fight in the middle of the city and are arrested by Nova Corps and sent to jail where they meet Drax the Destroyer who seeks revenge against Ronan for killing his wife and child.
The movie was so awesome, and the graphics were so amazing. It felt like you were really part of the adventure. In some ways, the film was very much like Star Wars Episode IV and The Avengers mixed together where you have these people with different personalities come together to fight an evil that none of them can stop alone.
The planets and space battle scenes resemble those developed in Star Wars. Disney was smart buying Star Wars; The special effects really brought the Guardians alive on the big screen.
After its release, Guardians of the Galaxy beat Iron Man and The Avengers’ records at the box office, earning $300 million after seven weekends, making it the top grossing film in North America in 2014 to date.
The cast of this movie has some very famous actors like Pratt as Starlord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper voicing Rock- et Racoon, and Vin Diesel voicing the beloved Groot.
I recommend seeing this movie in 3-D. The images really pop out and draw the audiences right into the middle of the battle scenes. It is worth every penny to see this movie, so head to the theaters as soon as possible.
