Art is a major part of the world, and is offered in most high schools across the country. Indian Trail High School & Academy offers multiple art classes for both General Studies and academy students.

“I think it gives them a connection between other classes. It helps them think abstractly, which is sort of lost in today’s classes. They have that abstract thought process to come up with ideas that are outside the box,” Michael Schroeder said, explaining how an art class helps students.

Schroeder estimates more than 500 students participate in art classes here at IT in both the high school and academy. With so many options of classes including two-dimensional art, three-dimensional art, and photography available to high school students here at IT, most people have the opportunity to take a class.

One student that has stood out, according to Schro- eder, is Carter Aceto, a General Studies senior.

“Ever since I was a kid, in elementary school, I liked to doodle and just everyone said I was really good at it, so I just kept doing it,” Aceto said.

He said he’s going to attend the Art Insti- tute of Wisconsin to pursue a career in ani- mation, wanting to have his own cartoon show or to make movies. To pursue such a career takes practice and many classes in which Aceto continues to prove his efforts as shown by Schroeder’s confidence in him by naming him “Artist of the Month.”
