Daredevil blinds Netflix viewers with storytelling, fighting

Netflix’s new series makes a big hit with Marvel fanboys and just about everyone else.

Over the past few years, Netflix has put out a few original shows like House of Cards and brought back older ones such as Arrested Development. They recently released their new series Daredevil, based off of the Marvel Comic series of the same name.

It follows the life story of Matt Mur- dock (Charlie Cox), blind by 9 and fatherless at 10. Once blind, he finds all his other senses have heightened to the point of near superhuman. He uses these new found abilities to help his city, Hell’s Kitchen, by fighting crime. Throughout the first season he is never really referred to as Daredevil, instead he is labeled “the masked man.”Aside from his crime fighting life, he has started his own law firm with his best friend Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson, yeah that one dude from The Mighty Ducks movies). The antagonist of this season is Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) A.K.A King Pin. He rules over the city from the shadows controlling the crime, law, and justice, using his plentiful wealth to pay off just about everyone with authority. Both Daredevil and King Pin seem to have similar goals, which is to make Hell’s Kitchen a better place, but have two different ways of approaching it.After watching the entire first season, this looks to be another good series from Netflix. Having well shot fight scenes topped with a very pleasing storyline, the series can only move forward as a new hit action-drama.

I would not say it is one of the best shows I ever watched, for it lacks in things like common sense and acting that could truly captivate an audience. That aside, it is still a very good watch and I recommend this to everyone who enjoys a good mix of fighting and storytelling. 8.5 thumbs up.
