Satisfaction at last

For the first time since 2005, the Rolling Stones are coming back to Wisconsin. After weeks of teasing the masses with an extremely vague billboard, the band officially announced that they would make an appearance in Milwaukee on June 23.

The show will be played at the Marcus Amphitheater on the Summerfest Grounds as ads promoting the tour have shown the Summerfest logo inside the bands famous lips-and- tongue logo.

The North American tour kicks off in San Diego, Calif. on May 24 and ends July 15 in Quebec City, Canada.

What’s surprising is that the tour will not make a stop in Chicago, making the Milwaukee show the “must play” venue in the Midwest since the nation’s third-largest city is off of the list.

This will be the eighth time that the Stones will come to Wisconsin. They’ve played at the Milwaukee Theater in ‘64, the UWM Panther Arena in ‘65, the County Stadium in ‘75, and Alpine Valley in 1989.

The band has also made stops in Madison in ‘97 and at the Bradley Center in ‘99 and ‘05.

In the long time since their last tour in Wisconsin, and their last tour in general, the Stones will be without saxophonist Bobby Keys after he passed away in December following a battle with liver cirrhosis.

Tickets went on sale for the general public on April 13 and sold out in just seven minutes.

So for fans, this may be the last time the Stones will appear in Milwaukee (given their age). It should be a great show with all the standards that fans of the band love. Be sure to get see them live before it’s all over now.
