Coming straight out of the gates and soaring up and down the field, the Indian Trail boys soccer team runs over the competition. This is not the team that we have had in the past year because our Hawks are beating our guest teams left and right.
“Jorge Triana has come out of the woodwork being able to play upside midfield and uptop,” said Head Coach Jeff Laurent.
The game that the varsity team played against Bradford last month was an exciting game. Indian Trail varsity boys also beat Tremper High School as well. Laurent also praised his captains and one freshman.
“The captains this year have been awesome, this summer getting the guys playing and practicing. These are the guys who have been in the program for four year and have bought into what we are doing,” said Laurent.
Laurent also acknowledged Christian Gutierrez, a freshmen that moved up the ranks in the junior varsity soccer team and now is a varsity player. The win against Bradford bumped their record to 7-4-2 and 2-in-2 in the conference.
“We are working hard, and staying positive helps,” says Ryan Klinkhammer, the senior captain on the team.
“We are a really good team with potential. We’re unselfish and have a good chemistry and this is the best team we have had in the past four years,” say Adair Guevara, another senior captain.
Two seniors, both midfield players, made the goal shots that helped IT win the Bradford game, No. 7 Jorge Triana and No. 9 Andres Lira. In the end, Indian Trail beat Bradford 3-1. One game of many that made for a great season.
