The girl’s tennis team has had a successful season, finishing with a 12-3 record and having five of the girls tennis team’s players qualifying for the Sectional Tournament. Senior Anmol Patel also advanced to state competition.

“The season has been great,” said Coach Bruce Bloedorn. “When we played our matches, we played well and we were very competitive, meaning point totals were very even… either win 4-3 or lose 3-4.”

The players agree that Tremper is their biggest competition. The girls team went up against Tremper earlier this fall and lost.

“Tremper put up a good fight but the girls put up a good fight too,” said Coach Bloedorn. “They also didn’t let the loss get them down.”

“We’ve improved a lot since last season,” said Megan Powell. They have done intense workouts to improve their game. To prepare for a game they eat lucky apples, stretch, run, then play tennis. They also stay hydrated every day.

The hard work is paying off.

Five of the girls tennis team’s players qualified for Sectional Tournament. Seniors Patel and Paige Kent and sophomore Kendall Wilhelmson are competing in singles. Georgia Cline, a junior, and Powell, a sophomore, are competing as doubles.

Tennis is a great way to make friends and come together with people to accomplish a common goal, said Coach Bloedorn.
