Why is Donald Trump a candidate for president?

Donald Trump has been a very prominent figure in our media for years. He has evolved from that man on the screen saying “You’re fired!” to campaigning to be president.

Conservative Republicans are taking his candidacy seriously. In fact, Trump is leading the polls and has been ever since he began voicing his bigoted opinions for all of the public to hear (his worst offense against people possessing common sense is forcing them to listen to his radical ideas). People around the country have voiced their aversion to Trump, however there is a block of voters who agree with his repulsive thoughts. It is an amount considerable enough to give those with common sense pause due to pure shock.

From the beginning, Trump has demonized Latinos, specifically those who came into America illegally. It is most certainly wrong to come into America unlawfully, but it is also wrong to tell impressionable conservatives that all Latinos are rapists.

This is not the case. In the book Enrique’s Journey, a man from the Honduras illegally entered the United States to reunite with his mother. His mom had left the poor country to seek a better life for her children, and Enrique simply could not wait for his papers and fled into our country. After he got settled and pulled himself away from his drug habits, Enrique grew to be a law abiding citizen in America.

There are many more examples. Dr. Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa fled his home in Mexico for America, and ended up becoming a highly successful brain surgeon. Shai Agassi became a CEO of the company Better Place after fleeing Israel. Nadir Mohamed, ex resident of Tanzania, now is a CEO in the Communications field. Julissa Arce, an undocumented worker from Mexico who used a fake green card, started as an intern at Goldman Sachs and climbed to the rank of vice president. Dino Infante from Mexico became a highly successful business man. There are so many more.

Some people have expressed their concern about Trump’s interest in Hitler. Trump supporters are astonished by this, although it does hold ground. Business Insider and Vanity Fair have reported that Trump keeps copies of Hitler’s speeches by his bed. When greeting his friends, Trump allegedly clicks his heels and says ‘Heil Hitler’. Additionally he does claim that America’s problems are due to a minority, and wants to deport an estimate of 11 to 12 million people, so perhaps his study with Hitler may have gone a little too far.

Estimates by CNN says that it would take $15,000 per day to deport that many. Trump countered the statement by claiming keeping these people in our country is costing us $220,000. He did not provide sources.

Speaking of numbers, four of Trump’s companies filed bankruptcy and 19 businesses under his watch have failed due to money troubles. He is not as successful as he claims.

Another traumatic statement that Trump made was to New York Times. In this interview, Trump told the Times about his times in his military boarding school. Trump mentioned he was better equipped to this country on the frontlines than actual soldiers. Not to mention his utter lack of knowledge on foreign policy. When asked, Trump said that he would learn more about foreign policy than men who have studied it for years in one night if he is elected. Candidate for US president will be ready on day one, but know about foreign policy on day two.

So Trump is wildly unprepared and incorrect for office. Perhaps in the Victorian era his ideas would be welcome, but in this age, we require progression away from racism. Trump can not be our president, he is simply ignorant, disrespectful, and disgusting.
