Heroes from CW’s hit shows Flash and Arrow team up with the help of Rip Hunter (Doctor Who’s Arthur Darvill) in DC’s newest TV hit, Legends of Tomorrow, to save not only the world but all of time. Familiar faces like Arrow’s Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Flash’s Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée), and others join together in an epic story.
The ratings started off strong, CW’s fourth most watched premiere, landing 4.93 million viewers during Legend of Tomorrow’s pilot. It even managed to outrate Arrow’s October 2012 premiere by 25 percent.
Usually, DC’s TV universe does not disappoint. Just like the other shows, plenty of plot twists and turns are littered throughout the first few episodes. The quickly paced plot is accompanied by outstanding acting from some of the cast, music, and special effects. While it far outperforms TV shows produced by DC’s rival company, Marvel, Legends of Tomorrow is rather underperforming compared to Arrow, Flash, Gotham, and Supergirl.
The story is good, but the way it is written is rather awkward. Anybody who has watched it agrees the writers just have not been up to par compared to DC’s other shows. Again, the show is good, it just is not as impressive as the expectations DC’s other shows have set it up to be.
The writers need to shape up and take the example of Legends of Tomorrow’s predecessors, otherwise the show is guaranteed to be unable to continue. They have good characters and talent, they just need to take a slightly different direction, otherwise it is going to lose all of the ratings. So, Legends of Tomorrow gets two out of five stars.
