recently certain people have changed the way they deal with the actions that offend them. Overly sensitive people are now acting as if their inability to control their emotions should give them the ability to control others actions so they aren’t offended and caused to feel uncomfortable.
In reality, if society conforms to these overly sensitive peoples’ demands then the rest of the general population must hold their tongues in fear of being offensive. This leads to people being unable to express their opinions and ideas because they may be offensive to others, which could cause brilliant ideas to go unknown or to not be pursued. Someone should not be silenced or censored to prevent others from feeling discomfort.
It is completely understandable to desire a certain amount of human decency from others and expect them to not go out of their way to purposely offend you, but people need to understand that not everyone they encounter in life will view what is right and wrong the same way they do.
Some people believe that there is a higher power that determines what is morally right and wrong for everyone, but other people will believe that they can determine what is right and wrong for them. There are also those who prefer to conform to the expectations put forth by our culture and society. Their different thought processes are okay if it works for them and they respect others enough to not push their
own beliefs onto others who do not wish to hear of it. We must not get upset over things we cannot control, such as other peoples’ actions. If we attempt to control others actions it never ends well.
I considered not writing this because I was slightly concern over offended people retaliating, but in the end I had an epiphany: I don’t care if you are offended. I want you to read this and I want you to think. I am not asking for you to think as I think or feel as I feel; I know that will never be reality. I am asking that you think for yourself and allow others to do the same. It’s better to live in a world where you disagree with people who are sharing their thoughts than to live in a world where you are not allowed to think or express your thoughts.
