The Indian Trail High School & Academy girls volleyball team has had a strong season this year. They’ve been working hard to bring home the win and make their fellow Hawks proud.
They have played Tremper, Racine Park, Racine Case, Oak Creek and Franklin high schools with a record of 3-3 in conference (at press time). Their teamwork and passion for the game have had a hand in their victories. This year was one for the books, for the Lady Hawks have beaten Tremper for the first time in Indian Trail history.
“It felt so amazing. We’ve been working hard to get better each day and it felt like it paid off after the victory,” said Madeline Haines, a sophomore co-captain of the girls volleyball team.
“It’s a great achievement for our team and our school and we certainly will keep achieving numerous accomplishments as the years go by,” she said.
The girls volleyball team has been able to develop strong qualities and trust in one another. Their teamwork and communication is undeniable when they are playing on the court.
“We have a lot of team chemistry this year,” said Emily Bible, a senior co-captain on the girls volleyball team.
Working hard and playing hard is definitely on their minds. Where there are strong qualities though, there are also weaknesses.
“We should work together to minimize mistakes,” said Sydney Pingitore, another senior co-captain on the girls volleyball team.
Other members think they could work harder on serve receive and becoming more consistent on the court.
Whether it’s one, four or 10 weaknesses, team members trust that their team will be able to overcome them all and only get better. This season, the team is striving to obtain top three in conference and to make it far into the playoffs.
“I hope to go only wins for the rest of the season,” said Pingitore.
