School isn’t fun. It’s almost a fact of life. After 13 years of drowning in paperwork, I’ve found ways of dealing with it such as crying myself to sleep and procrastinating until I give myself a stress induced hernia. But if I ever needed a little break from school within school, I would look no further than Coolmath-games.com.
I have no idea how everyone knows about Coolmath. We all just knew that Coolmath was the coolest place to play the best “math” games around. In elementary school, we used to take class trips to the computer lab and I would hop onto Coolmath as soon as the teacher would turn her back. Hey, I still do that now whenever I get a free moment.
Now, Coolmath’s game library has grown extensively over the years, but I remember the good old days when Bloxorz was my jam. Bloxorz was easily the game on that website that I sunk most of my wasted potential into. It sounds real dumb as a game idea, I mean, you play as a block and just move up, down, left or right to navigate into a hole, but it’s fun.
Another game I played a lot of was Run and Run 2. Now we’re getting a little bit farther away from all the “math” games. Run is simply a game about running and jumping. Sounds easy, but it gets difficult real fast and the challenge of the game came from the increasingly difficult level design and biting your lip to stop yourself from swearing out loud in class when you died.
I couldn’t talk about Coolmath-games without mentioning the real stars of the website; the Papa’s Games. Papa’s Freezeria, Papa’s Wingeria, Papa’s Sushiria. The list goes on and on. The Papa’s Games are restaurant simulator games where you as a player are tasked with taking orders and making food per the order. Several customers can place orders right after another and the challenge of the game comes from doing everything in your control to keep the customer from getting angry with your establishment, whether it be because of long wait times or messed up orders.
I’m a high school senior and I pretty much have been crowned the king of laziness, but I’m not lazy when it comes to getting things done in Papa’s Freezeria if that counts for anything. I’m surprised I even took time away from my “math” games to write this article, so if you’ll excuse me, I have some ice cream to make.
