Bump, set, spike! That’s how the game is played, something the Indian Trail High School & Academy boys’ volleyball team has down pat.

Players know the game so well that their record is 20 wins, two ties and three losses. The team has made their mark.

“The goal this season is to win conference and also sectionals,” says Travis Shore, an Indian Trail senior and team captain.

The season so far has been a huge success. Team members say the team as a whole has a great bond, with strong players in every spot on the court.

“We work together well,” said Nick Stachura, also a senior captain, whose been playing the game since he was 6 years old. “We celebrate with each other and keep each other up so we play well.”

Teamwork is what keeps the boys together and going. From the beginning the players have been supporting each other.

“Nick dragged me to a volleyball camp and that’s what got me started,” Shore laughs.

Players will go the extra mile to dive and save the ball from touching the ground.

“We team bond so we can feel the connection and support each other,” IT junior Nathan Klimisch proudly said.

The team wants to make it as far as they can, improving on the way.

“We want to improve on years past and make it past the first round at state,”  Stachura said.

With the help of Coach Brian Sharkey, the boys are improving quickly. Klimisch, is a perfect example and has caught Stachura’s eye.

“He’s definitely running the team in the kill’s section,” Stachura points out. “He seems to be an outlet I can go to anytime I need to.”

From bonding to owning the court, the boys are here to stay. They hope the season keeps improving as they go. The current record is 23-2-3 (6-0 in conference).
