Michelle Obama
Graduating from two different Ivy League schools, Michelle Obama is a woman of great knowledge and grace. Serving as the first black First Lady from the year 2009 until 2016, she holds this ‘first’, but she is also the only First Lady to hold two Ivy League degrees.
Some of her accomplishments during her years in the White House include The School Lunch program, which provided little to no cost lunches to over 20 million children throughout the U.S.
She also launched ‘Let’s Move!’ which seeks to lower the rates of childhood obesity by providing healthier school lunch options and encouraging kids to get more exercise every day.
She has become an amazing role model for young women and children of color, and continues to leave an impact on the American public.
Princess Peach
Debuting in 1985 in the game ‘Super Mario Bros,’ Princess Peach is easily one of the most recognizable video game characters this century. While most associate Peach with just being a simple damsel in distress, the princess has way more to her than is usually spoken about.
According to Nintendo, Princess Peach is the only character who has enough magical power to defeat Bowser, which is why the villain tries to keep her locked away. The princess also has a variety of different special attacks and weapons in each game.
Peach was named on the Forbes of ‘Wealthiest Fictional Characters,’ and she even has her own game (Super Princess Peach, 2005)! She is a worthy role model, showing girls you can be ladylike and still be a boss at the same time.
Janet Leiting
Serving as Indian Trail’s attendance secretary for 15 years, Janet Leiting has certainly impacted the school and its students.
Leiting, located in the school’s main office, provides a friendly face and conversations to those who see her for help.
She takes the time to remember each student by name and details from past conversations, making sure to check up on students when she sees them.
Leiting also models an excellent work ethic. She is constantly updating attendance, and often works many late hours to make sure all issues are sorted out for students.
Thank you Ms. Leiting for all the hard work and care you show students.
