It’s not hard to recognize the amount of popularity South Korean boy group BTS has gained over the past few years. Five world tours, 16 albums, performances on popular American programs, movies and shows. BTS is unarguably the current biggest music group in the world.

When Big Hit Entertainment, who manages BTS, announced their plans for a new boy group, they were met with high expectations. Fans were confident in this new group debuting with a strong album and they weren’t disappointed.

Introducing TXT, abbreviation for Tomorrow X Together. The group currently consists of five members – Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai – whose ages range from 16 to 19 years old. The group released their debut EP The Dream Chapter: Star, and the music video for their single “CROWN.” The EP consists of five tracks that can be enjoyed by all.

The group’s debut single “CROWN” had immediately started winning over the hearts of fans after release. The song is truly fun and upbeat from start to finish. The lyrics of the song spread the message of self love which Big Hit is really pushing for along with BTS’s Love Yourself albums and tours.

But the message isn’t what fans are crying over, it’s the fact that the lyrics connect to a promotional video telling the story of a boy with horns who had felt left out through life until he met a boy with wings and was finally able to smile and feel complete. Thanks to visuals from the video, fans are speculating that the boy with horns is TXT and the boy with wings is BTS and this is their way of showing appreciation for their sunbae, or seniors.

The rest of the songs on the EP may not have as strong of a message, but still deserve just as much love. Like the previously mentioned singles, “Blue Orangeade,” “Our Summer,” and “Cat and Dog” keep upbeat and are lighthearted and fun. While the first two are more naturally vocal, “Cat and Dog” uses a lot of auto tune. “Blue Orangeade” talks about a couple who are total opposites, but still care for each other. “Cat and Dog” is told from the perspective of someone who is so in love with their other that they don’t want to leave their side, like a pet. Things slow down with the last song, “Nap of a Star.” With lyrics equally calming and beautiful, the song is perfect for when you’re spending time with that special someone.

With a debut as successful as this group’s, it’s only a matter of time before you see them performing on American programs as well. TXT has a long road ahead of them. They will grow and their fanbase will continue to grow. Let’s show them the love and support they worked hard to earn.
