With an impressive 11-6 record as of May 15, the girls softball team has had plenty to celebrate. Though ranked 96 in the state, the girls bring their love for the sport onto the field no matter the situation.

“Ever since I was a little kid I just loved playing softball, and it always made me really happy,” said varsity senior Mckenzie Lamos.

The team has been making their presence known with notable triumphs. They have a notable win against the South Milwaukee Rockets ending the game 12-5. On April 4, the team had one of their biggest wins with a final score of 24-5 against Racine Case.

“This year’s team has the best team chemistry I’ve seen in the four years of playing,” said senior pitcher Lizzie Barber. “We get along so well, and it shows on the field when we play together as one.”

Many of the girls have been playing for a long time, having started small with T-ball.

“My dad played baseball his whole life and my older brother played baseball as well, so it was only natural for me to gain interest in softball,” said senior pitcher Anna Vignali. Working together well, the team has a record of 10-5. In conference, they have a record of 3-3.

With the end of the season drawing near, some senior players look to college to continue playing their favorite game.

“I am committed to University of Missouri St. Louis where I will be playing softball and studying biology,” said Lamos.
