DECA students win big at state

Fourteen Indian Trail students  qualified to compete at state and attended the state DECA competition in March, with many taking top honors in their categories. Nine advanced to the international competition that was scheduled to be held in Nashville in April, but has since been canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Here are the winners that qualified for internationals:
– Joey Kositizke:  Named DECA state officer, vice president.  Kositizke and Jacob Weber double qualified, earning first in Hotel and Tourism and fourth on their International Project.
– Justin Waller: Sixth place for Professional Selling Hospitality and Tourism
–  Sean Robinson: First place in Professional Selling Marketing and a finalist in his economics test and in his category event.

– Meredith Kuffman: Fourth place in Principles of Business Administration
– Richard Ross: Top 10 finalist and medaled in Restaurant and Food management.
– Mary Pratt: Medaled in Food Marketing
– Anna Genz and Mary Lewer: Advanced to internationals in Marketing Management Team Decision making. Lewer was also a top 10 finalist for her project in Professional Selling, Hospitality and Tourism.
The following also were up on stage for metals just didn’t qualify for ICDC
Aman Saiyed: medaled in professional Selling Hospitality and Tourism
– Matthew Hillstrom was a top 10 finalist for his project in professional Selling Hospitality and Tourism
