The movie Parasite, directed by Bong Joon-ho, has brought a new wave of interest in international movies to the West after the film won an impressive four Academy Awards, including for best picture, screenplay, international film, and director.
Parasite is about a poor family who manipulates a rich family into employing all members of the poor family without knowing they are all related to each other.
As the poor family members successfully all get hired, they face a dilemma where they find the past house maid has been keeping a secret. T
he innocent family has no idea what is occuring in their household, as problems begin to unfold.
The movie is recorded in a smooth cinematic way in which each scene blends into the next without viewers realizing the change of location yet it still keeps them hooked into the screen.
Director Bong Joon-ho was able to surprise me in so many ways throughout the movie, from the way the plot unfolded in such a cinematic way to all the ways he was able to accurately portray different parts of Korean society throughout the movie.
Parasite will definitely have you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire film. I definitely recommend watching it. As Director Boon said “Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films.”
