The topic of fashion elicits arguments and heated debates among many teens today. Students around ITA have a very diverse fashion sense and it seems that everyone looks at their sense of style a little differently, especially in 2024 when fashion trends and styles are changing every week.
As the colder months start to creep in, students dress in layers. Eyleen Jimenez, a senior, states, “In the winter I try to wear more layers and sweaters. Maybe more hats and beanies.” Tights and warm socks also are essential items in her closet and are a great way to stay warm.
Thrifting, or going to thrift stores to purchase clothes, has also become highly popular in recent years while also being resourceful and economical. While many people still prefer to purchase brand new, this school year students seem to lean more towards thrifting than buying from brands.
When asked whether she preferred to thrift or buy new, Jimenez also stated, “With thrifting, I find more clothes that I like and it’s easier to style and easier to use in different ways. I don’t look for specific brands.”
So as the colder months start to set in it seems that students all over ITA are going with more budget-friendly and creative options and are encouraging others to do the same. With the below-freezing temperatures and icy roads that Wisconsin weather brings, students need to bundle up and dress warmly while still staying fashionable, of course.
