If you are looking for a supportive, inclusive community to be a part of, Women’s Empowerment could be for you. “Here, women want to empower other women,” says Ms. Phillips, Women’s Empowerment advisor. And they are always looking for new members.

Sophomore Jordie Ferguson says, “We really support equality and making sure everyone’s voices are heard. Anyone can come to the club, no matter your ethnicity, if you’re a boy or a girl, [whatever] your religion, come to the club and uplift each other and yourselves.”
Women’s Empowerment meets once a week and everyone is welcome to come and spend time just discussing their experiences and listening to others who might feel the same.
This club is one of the most inclusive and equal opportunity organizations at Indian Trail. Jordie says, “I believe it’s important to have this club because I know a lot of girls [who] may not feel as confident [in] the world we live in. A lot of women’s issues are front-and-center most of the time. It’s important that we go to this club to discuss [government and politics] and how we’re maybe feeling about these issues and how can we, as women, support each other and ourselves.”
Ms. Phillips, Jordie, and Senior Madeline Ladd have similar ideas about what the club represents: that Women’s Empowerment is about equality, supporting each other, and giving people a voice.

Madeline says, “I think our club mainly represents just fighting for equality, whether that’s among genders or among people who don’t really have a voice in this school yet. That’s what we kind of did with the prayer room. They didn’t have a voice or they didn’t have a club to work towards that. So we really became that voice.”
Women’s empowerment is a place where students can feel safe to express themselves and grow as people.
