The second season of Indian Trail wrestling is over and it was an impressive one. The Hawks had a solid season placing fifth in the conference with many close losses.
The Hawks had some very talented individuals as well. Christian Ruiz placed third team in confer- ence while Izaak Simar, Josie Rodriguez, Jacob Simar, and Eddie Nixon all placed first team in their weight classes. All of them placed in regionals and continued on to sectionals.
Izaak placed first in sectionals and became the first Indian Trail wrestler to ever make it to state. This is the second time he has been to state in his career. He first went to state as a freshman when he lived in Oregon.
“It’s just an honor to be able to represent my school at state and being the first person to state is great. It’s always cool to be able to be the first at something,” said Simar.
Simar ended up winning his first match but losing his second. He won every match from there to place third at state. Izaak will be wrestling at Liberty University in Virginia in the fall.
The Hawks team is on the rise. While Izaak and Nixon are seniors, Ruiz is a junior and Jacob Simar and Rodriguez will be back for another two years only being sophomores.
