The Indian Trail High School and Academy orchestra program began its 2014- 2015 concert year with a spectacular start as their annual fall concert is currently being applauded as the best performance the program has ever produced.

Families, friends and concert viewers alike flooded the ITHS&A auditorium on Wednesday, Dec. 3 until the concert kicked off at 6:30 P.M. with the Chamber Orches- tra performing Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. The performance was then followed by the Blaze Alternative Orchestra’s performance of “Country Club Rage.” Afterwards, the Concert Orchestra, consisting of mostly underclassman, took the stage and played music such as “The Hunger Games,” “Journey of Magi,” and “Remote Control.” For the finale, the Symphonic Orchestra, comprising of mostly upperclassmen, ended the night with the selections of “Folk Tune Air” and “Fiddler’s Fury,” “Symphony No. 40 in G minor movement one,” and “Crown Imperial Coronation March;” for the two latter, band students joined to help perform the piece.

After the concert, Rahssan Hurdle, a violinist, reflected on the concert.

“I think all of the orchestras did a fantastic job,” she said. “My favorite piece was ‘Fiddler’s Fury’ because it was fast-paced.”

Dear Deari, another violinist agreed.

“ [The Concert Orchestra] did perfect this year. And [the Symphonic Orchestra] did wonderful with the band as well.I believe that we have succeeded in what we were trying to strive and do.”
