From a 10-12 overall record in the 2013-14 season and a first-round-oust by the Tremper Trojans, the let down was real after a promising season for Indian Trail High School & Academy.
But the 2014-15 season has been a whole different story. The Hawks finished with a 18-4 overall and a Conference first place tie with Horlick and Case high schools. The Hawks swept the City of Kenosha under new Head Coach Al Anderson.
And as of last Friday (press time), the team was heading to the Elite Eight, the WIAA Sectional Finals.
Senior Andre Brown, junior guard and team captain Josh Washburn and senior forward Perion Little would lead the Hawks all season. Brown lead the team in assists, rebounds, and blocks.
After the amazing season put up by IT’s Boys Varsity team confidence is through the roof around here at Indian Trail.
The first-round game against Bradford went in the Hawks favor in a 68-53 win. The second-round match up against Oconomowoc was a close one, but Indian Trail prevailed in a one point win 52-51, becoming Division 1 Regional Champions. At Sectionals in Madison last Thursday, the Hawks beat Madison Memorial 60-57 in a thrilling game behind Little’s career-high 27 points. The team was scheduled to play March 14 against Madison East in Beloit for the Sectionals championship.
“I’m proud of everybody. It’s something that wasn’t expected by everybody else, but this is a goal we’ve been working on all year long,” said Brown.
