If anyone has been the face of the Indian Trail girls basketball program since it started three years ago, it has been Madie Kaelber. Kaebler recently broke the 1000 point scoring mark with a lay-up against Racine Case. The junior has scored 1082 points in only her third season. She is the first player in Indian Trail’s history to score 1000 points and also the first to score 400 points in a season.

“It means a lot to score 1000 points. It feels good to know that my hard work is paying off,” said Kaebler.

The girls team has had a slow start since the program began three years ago. The girls have not got a playoff win yet and not won more than seven games in a season. Through the rough patches Kaelber has been through it all. She has averaged 16.6 points per game over her career. This year she really turned it on as an elite scorer, averaging a tad under 20 points per game and having some standout performances as well. She had a 42-point game against Case earlier this year, second most in school history.

Kaebler is also a standout student with a 3.36 GPA. She has college interest across the midwest and looks to pick up offers later on this summer.

“She keeps everyone in the game and focus. She’s a good person,” said Ferryn Lott, a junior Guard and Kaelber’s teammate.

Kept in high regard, Kaelber looks to push the Hawks into a winning season next year. Losing only three seniors, the team brings back a lot of depth next year. Lott and Kaebler will be called to push the charge. Kaebler’s scoring ability will be needed again as well. With 1500 points in her sight, she will be on a short list of girls in Kenosha County’s history to ever do so.

“My goal for next year is to get to 1500, so I plan to workout in the offseason to improve my strength, speed, and skills,” said Kaebler.

Look for Kaebler to be one of the top players in the state next season.
