While some people consider art to be super realistic and detailed, people often ignore the fact that cartoons are art as well. Communications senior Liz Hanson loves to draw cartoons and anime and has plans to continue on in art.

“I want to be a cartoonist,” Hanson said.

She started drawing in the third grade and has gone on through the years filling sketchbooks with her art. She doesn’t remember why she got started in art, but is inspired by anime and cartoons.

From digital art to traditional art, Hanson draws many things including people, fan art, and animals. Her favorite media to use is markers, and she likes to post her art onto the blogging website, Tumblr. She’s very focused on her art, joking that she has no friends because she’d rather draw.

Although she’s unsure what exactly she wants to do after she graduates, she still wants to be a cartoonist. The future holds many opportunities for the talented senior, who will reach towards her goal.
