Starting his senior year as one of Indian Trail’s guards, Andre Brown was on a mission to make a big statement. He has done just that. Coming off his junior year season of averaging just 8.9 points per game (ppg), he has more than doubled his average this year, now averaging 20.7 ppg. Not only does he make his mark on the scoreboard, but he also adds in 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He began the game of basketball at the age of 4, and ever since then it’s been his escape.

“I’m very passionate about it. It drive and motivates me every day,” he said.

His favorite part of the game is the competition. He loves it. The challenge to be better than the other person is a thrill to him.

“He is very unselfish and the ultimate team player … He makes everybody around him a better player,” said Brown’s coach, Al Anderson.

Brown’s determination is always very evident on the court. Once he gets the ball inside, there’s no stopping him.

“His strength in the low post for a guard is unmatchable in our conference and makes him very hard to guard,” said Coach Anderson.

He often draws the foul and is sent to the line, attempting 166 free throws this season. Brown has received several awards this year including SEC Player of the Year, Team MVP, 1st Team All Conference, Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association AllState team, and Associated Press 2nd team all state.

“I did everything I believed I was capable of and I believe I surprised a lot of people with my individual performance,” said Brown.

Brown is committed to play basketball at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater this coming fall. His goal is to win a national championship and become an AllAmerican.

“I have no doubt [Brown] will be extremely successful in college because of his work ethic and his will to be better than everyone else. My advice for him is to just keep doing what you’re doing and never forget where you came from. The sky’s the limit,” said Coach Anderson.

“I look forward to playing at the next level. It’s another challenge that I’m ready to face and conquer,” Brown said.
