The Indian Trail girls varsity basketball team is putting a lot of work into this season. Their current record is 6-8, and the girls feel like they have become a big family.
It takes a lot of dedication and hard work to become a team. All of the girls are competitive and want their teammates to improve their skills.
The most challenging part has been coming together and playing as a team, said Kailey Kennow, an Indian Trail junior.
Kennedy Neeson, an Indian Trail junior, agrees that the most challenging part of the season for her has been building a bond with the whole team.
Each player has their own personal strengths and weaknesses. Each player has at least one personal goal they want to achieve every season. Somehow, as a team, they find a way to play as one.
“One of my goals was to make most of my shots and free throws and so far I’m probably 68 percent at the line,” said Kennow.
“My goal was to get better post moves and yes I did achieve my goal,” said Neeson.
Players are already compiling memorable moments from their season, moments never to be forgotten by the players.
“Beating Racine Case. Last year we lost to them twice and to come and beat them was a very fun experience,” said Kennow.
“The most memorable moment of the season is when the team has pasta parties,” said Neeson.
Although the team might struggle and teammates may get frustrated at each other at times, it is because they all want the best for each other.
“We need to work on coming together as a team and playing as a team,” said Kennow.
“Not getting mad at each other is what we need to work on,” said Neeson. The team has several seniors and this will be their last season of high school basketball. Players say they hope to finish out this season strong and win more games.
