The annual Tackle Pink Football Game is one of the most attended football games that both Indian Trail and Bradford high schools have hosted. So why does this game mean so much to everyone?
“IT and Bradford try and raise money for breast cancer awareness,” said Matt Bradley, Indian Trail’s director of student activities.
This year’s game, held Sept. 22, raised more than $8,400, and all the proceeds go to benefit the Circle of Hope. The Circle of Hope is a local organization in Kenosha that helps women in their fight against breast cancer.
Tradition is also another big contributor to this event.
“It’s for such a great cause. We raise money and try to get everyone involved.”

“It keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. Both schools try and hype it up as much as they can. For the first time this year, both IT and Bradford have sold the same T-Shirts and it came out to be a big success,” Bradley said.
Not only are the T-Shirts a success but they also have outside contributions to help them out. Cousin Subs came and sold their sandwiches while Culver’s sold their ice cream with proceeds from all sales going towards the Circle of Hope as well.
“Everyone gets to support such a great cause and from what we learned, everyone seems to like wearing the color pink for some reason,” Bradley joked, after being asked why the fans get so involved.
Many students, adults, teachers, and even faculty know that this isn’t just for fun.
“It’s for such a great cause. We raise money and try to get everyone involved. We try to inform everyone that breast cancer is a serious topic and try to raise awareness as much as we can,” Bradley said.
As for the football game, Indian Trail prevailed after Bradford nearly scored a field goal in the final seconds of the fourth quarter. The Hawks came out the winners beating Bradford 41-38 in their home opener, diminishing the Red Devils chances of making the playoffs.
