Along with being a phenomenal fashion designer, Communications Academy junior Cybria Williams is now the head of a new club here at Indian Trail.
Although Williams has only been designing for ve years, she has al- ready made her mark in the fashion world. Not that long ago, Williams entered a fashion contest where she beat out the rest of the competition and won the rst place prize — a $75 Visa gi card.
“I entered the contest because I wanted to show the judges and the peo- ple what a really talented designer I am,” Williams said.
For the fashion contest, Williams had to create a completed look from head to toe.
“It took me a week to prep, I made my out t the week of the fashion show. I made a peplum vest with a Harlem/ cigarette pant and a coin wal- let,” Williams said.
Sandra Bleser, one of William’s teachers and Communications Academy media arts chair, said, “It’s her passion that really drives her … she doesn’t let anything get in her way.”
A er winning the competition, Williams decided to start her own fash- ion club, or as she calls it CTW Fashion Design.
“She has grown very passionate about trying to involve other students in her passion,” said Bleser.
Along with being Williams’ teacher, Bleser has decided to become the advisor for Williams’ club.
“Students feed o of her positiveness and she’s always coming in with a smile which is really inspiring for others to see,” Bleser said.
This is one of the many reasons why she believes the club will be a great way for Williams to inspire others to pursue their fashion dreams as well, Bleser said.
