Another pizza shop in Kenosha is just what we needed. It’s not like we don’t have Little Caesar’s, Domino’s, Topper’s, Rocky Rococo’s, Dolce Vita, Slice of NY, Pizza Hut, and every other pizza chain to ever exist, right? Wrong, so let’s welcome our new friend MOD Pizza.
MOD is located at Highway 50, 94th Avenue, in the new block of restaurants called Bulls-Eye. Its neighbors are Five Guys and Chipotle, so my expectations for MOD was a little on the higher side.
Although I was a little bitter at the thought of another pizza chain opening in Kenosha, as a pizza lover, I couldn’t be that mad. It was actually pretty nice to know that the Seattle-based company is mindful of animal ethics, treat their employees right, and has vegan and gluten-free options too!
Their menu offers a countless variety of individual artisan-style pizzas, including a “create your own” option, salads, sides, and variety of hand spun milkshakes and house-made iced teas or lemonade. What’s neat about their pricing system is that you pay for the size of the pizza. The amount of toppings you choose is endless, so if you’re a cheapo like me, you can pile up those toppings like there’s no tomorrow!
As I walked into MOD, I was immediately greeted by the most kind employees I’ve ever met. When I asked what pizzas they recommended, they were really honest and patient with me. You can tell that all the employees loved working there because all the employees got along really well. It wasn’t hard to tell that MOD’s really did treat their employees right.
After a long time of staring at the menu, I decided to go with a “Tristan” MOD size pizza. If I told you that pizza wasn’t the best pizza I’ve ever eaten, I’d be lying. Each bite was the perfect amount of crunchy and gooey. The delicious mix of mozzarella, mushroom, red pepper, asiago, and pesto is from the gods themselves. Each bite made me forget about the sad, rubbery cheese from Pizza Hut and the stretchy, stale crust from Little Caesars. At that moment, I knew I was deeply in love.
Hawks, if you haven’t tried MOD pizza yet, you truly are missing out in life. Every bite is worth every single penny you pay. The atmosphere, employees, delicious food, and quirky look makes it the perfect hangout, so grab a friend or two and enjoy!
