Girls basketball travels with new mindset towards victory

When it comes to sports, some seasons can be more challenging than others. Such is the case for Indian Trail’s Lady Hawks who are battling with a 4-7 record.

“The season hasn’t quite gone as we hoped it would. We have been in a lot of games but the ball seems to bounce the wrong way,” said Coach Sean Brady.

Teamwork and cooperation sometimes are more important than the actual score or winning, a team needs to be unified more than anything.

“We would all like to win more but that takes time. We just keep working hard, trying to get better each and every day,” said Kailey Kennow, a General Studies senior.

Being on a team that is very close is basically like having a second family, and that’s something that will always be cherished.

“This is a great group of girls and I think if we can pull together, we can really have a strong second half of the season,” said Brady.

Something that has been a big factor with the lady ballers is that they’ve been very hard on themselves. The girls like to get inside their heads with doubtful anticipation.

“We are the only thing standing in our own way,” Brady said.

One milestone the team awaits with high anticipation relates to Coach Brady,

“For me, I need one win for my 400 career win as a varsity coach, which I know we will get and it is exciting to me that I will get to share that moment with this group of girls and my daughter, Lorelei,” Brady said. “They will forever be the group in my memory that achieves that milestone for me.”
