The buzzer blares as warm ups are just beginning. The stands quickly fill with excited students and supportive parents walking in. Anticipation overflows as they introduce the Indian Trail High School boys basketball team.
The boys basketball team has been extremely entertaining this season, from thrilling last pointers to complete domination over rivals.
“Our strongest accomplishment was beating Racine Case by 24 points, with a final score of 78-56,” said Coach Al Anderson.
They’ve beaten crosstown rival Bradford High School with a score of 66-64 and an astonishing 2-pointer scored at the last second of the game.
Let’s not forget about the spine-tingling game against another crosstown rival Tremper High School, a game that ended with a nail-biting score of 79-78.
The Hawks are currently 7-3 and 3-2 in conference. If the Hawks want to keep this success going, they need to keep working on a few things.
The team needs to improve on cutting down on turnovers and staying out of foul trouble, Anderson said. He said the team’s biggest accomplishment so far is that they’re 5-0 against Kenosha and Kenosha County teams.
“If I could tell my team one thing right now, I would let them know that we as a coaching staff are proud of their effort and fast start,” said Anderson. “But if we want to hit our overall potential, we need to be honest with each other, and recognize our faults while working on becoming better basketball players, better teammates and most of all better young men.”
