Three words powerful enough to describe the heart-felt film, A Dog’s Purpose.
A Dog’s Purpose, released January 27, 2017, has gone above and beyond the label of being ‘just another animal movie.’ Yes, realistically and straight-forwardly, this movie is about a dog, moreso his heart and soul, living multiple lives. Lives that range from being a lap dog to being a police dog.
Obvious, right? Not at all.
Think about it for a moment.
No matter how many lives Bailey goes through, his mind is on one thing and one thing only: Home.
Regardless of the new lives he’s offered, he cannot for the life of him forget about the first he had. Thoughts of his home, the place he had lived his life to the very end, and the family who had loved him dearly and treated him with affection from beginning to end, never ceases to pester him.
He has a goal in mind. A goal that he will fight for regardless of how difficult it may be or the amount of time it may take. That passion, the fire within him, has grown into something that cannot be stopped by any hurdle or extinguished by another.
That’s the beauty of the entire thing. It’s such a simple film if one focuses on just the plot. Look beyond the plot and make room for the discovery of something far greater than a dog living multiple lives.
When watching A Dog’s Purpose, it’s encouraged that one takes a minute to look around. To look at the family and the friends who have gathered to share the experience. Let it be a reminder that regardless of how others may treat [you] outside of [your] family, there will always be a place to go. A place of security, where dreams will be protected and the heart will not be judged.
