The scenario for varsity football Coach Paul Hoffman’s squad was this on Oct. 13: Win and go to the playoffs, or lose and go home.
Indian Trail High School & Academy had lost the last four games to Racine Horlick and six out of the last seven to them since 2012. It would be the same old story on Oct. 13, 2017 as the Indian Trail Hawks fell to the Racine Horlick Rebels 42-6. The Hawks lone touchdown came in the third quarter off 19-yard touchdown pass from Alex Jarvis to Gabe Torano. That would be the only bright spot of the game for the Hawks.
Rusher Joe Garcia wasn’t as much a factor as some thought he would be. Instead George Sims was the one who wreaked havoc on the Indian Trail pass defense. Sims scored two receiving touchdowns of 51 and 22 yards and added on two rushing touchdowns, one on a five yard jet sweep run, which would be the final score and the dagger in the heart for the Hawks.
Racine Horlick Senior quarterback Sawyer Schick finished 5-11 with 127 yards and two passing touchdowns, while the whole Racine Horlick team combined for 349 yards (222 rushing and 127 passing). Indian Trail combined for 218 yards (172 rushing and 46 passing).
Indian Trail will finish 3-6 this season (3-4 in conference) and will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2012.
