After posting a strong season last year, Indian Trail High School & Academy’s boys tennis team is looking to keep the momentum going. So far the 2018 season is going well for the boys.

“We aren’t satisfied with completely everything yet, but we hope to do better and go team state,” said Business Academy senior Jake Larson.

The team was 6-2 at press time and is still expecting more out of the season.

“We’re doing well. Our only two losses were to teams who made it to team state last year, so overall I’m happy with our season so far. I think we need to get tougher at some spots, but that will happen through our matches,” said Indian Trail boys tennis head coach Todd Anderson.

Anderson is still expecting a lot out of his group of boys during the rest of the season.

“I expect us to be right at the top of the conference, Franklin High School has a really deep team so I think they have a shot to win the conference,” said Anderson. “I also think that we have a chance to put almost, if not all of our teams through the sub sectional.”

Anderson also wishes well to all the seniors is the tennis program.

“They had such an incredible junior year, and for them to roll like that was huge. I wish them all the success in the world, and I think that their integrity and character will serve them well going forward,” said Anderson. “They’ve created a wonderful team chemistry and camaraderie that will leave a legacy for our younger kids going forward,” said Anderson.

At the end of the day, Indian Trail’s boys tennis team might be one of the most underrated but most successful programs at IT since its inception in 2011, and it shows on and off the court.
