Indian Trail High School & Academy students warmed up for Homecoming 2019 with a week full of spirit days including Austin Powers hippy day and Pretty in Pink IT wears pink day.

Dozens of oats, like Ghost Busters from the senior class and The Little Mermaid from the swim team, winded through neighborhoods near Indian Trail as the annual homecoming parade kicked off the celebratory weekend.

Despite cold weather and a blustery northwest wind during Friday’s football game, smiles were all around.

The homecoming dance Saturday was anything but quiet, as almost 1,300 students attended with their dates, friends, or stag. Students donned their best formal wear for the “Lights, Camera, Action” theme, and Indian Trail danced the night away. The commons was decked out with lights, a giant clapboard, and even a Hollywood sign.

Twelve seniors on homecoming court had campaigned for the title of king and queen, but in the end Emme Smith and Joseph White ultimately captured the crown.

The DJ gave song tributes to each class, and when “Good Riddance” by Green Day played for the seniors, it was bittersweet. Student excitement was brought to its peak when “Truth Hurts” by Lizzo played, and teens rushed the dance floor, all showing off their best moves.

Seniors grew nostalgic as the last song played and their final homecoming memories came to a close. As the night came to an end, and the last dances were had, happiness filled the room.
