Disney has a brand new addition to the family

In August 2019, Disney announced its new streaming service Disney+ at D23, the company’s official fan club. The multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate will launch the new service on Nov. 12, 2019 in the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands. For only $7 a month, viewers can stream their favorite shows and movies from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. Disney wants to compete with top streaming services like Net ix and Amazon Prime. They hope they can draw in fans with their brand name and the properties they own. Some of the new shows and movies that will be on Disney+ include, The Mandalorian, Lady and The Tramp, Noelle, WandaVision, what if…?, The Clone Wars, and many other Disney specials.

One of the most popular shows coming to Disney+ is Star Wars The Mandalorian, which already has a trailer with 17 million views on Youtube. The Mandalorian is a show based on a bounty hunter (Pedro Pascal) who lives in the time after the fall of the Empire but before the first order.

Another popular show coming to Disney+ is What If…?, although the show won’t be on Disney+ until the summer of 2021. This will be the newest show from the Marvel cinematic universe and it will be animated, rather than live action. “What If…? is being created exclusively for Disney+ and features stories that present alternate re- alities in the Marvel Universe.”

Disney+ won’t just include new shows and movies, it will include beloved favorites like Finding Dory, Princes and the Frog, Goof Troop, and yes The Simpsons. Disney+ might be a major competitor in the streaming industry with their big new shows and movies and huge fan base.

In late November, I plan to review Disney+ and write about it for the next issue of The Pulse which will be Dec. 10. I will watch the shows and movies that appear on Disney+ and review the quality of this new streaming service. So stay tuned for the next issue to nd out if Disney+ is worth it.
